Anchor House is charity based in Perth and Kinross. We were established in 1988 and since then have offered a range of support services to meet local demand.
Anchor House provides a comprehensive range of needs-led services, this includes accommodation and support services to those that experience homelessness, mental illness, disadvantage and exclusion.
We have 3 different services at present:
Supported accommodation unit for 13 people in Perth – Day to day this service is supporting people who are homeless to gain skills and confidence to move on to their own accommodation. Referrals to this service come via Perth & Kinross Council’s Housing Options Team.
Self-directed support service supporting people in the community – Day to day this service is going into peoples own homes and supporting them to live independently in the community. Supporting around 30 people across Perthshire. Referrals for this service primarily come via Social Work.
The Neuk 24/7 mental health and suicide prevention service – Day to day this service is responding to crisis presentations made to the service from individuals. We support people in transition points in their lives where there are acute and chronic periods of pressure. Our intervention and prevention support the learning of coping mechanisms. We also provide training on suicide prevention to the community, running 1 session per month to around 25 people. We know that the health of people in a neighbourhood is also shaped by the nature of the place itself, socioeconomic factors increase the risk of suicidal behaviour. Our programme aims to bring about change by highlighting support that is available to people and reducing stigma.
